That’s our girl’s name. Amelia the Westfalia. Isn’t she cute? I love her. It was so fun finally putting the decals on her. It was a sunny, warm day. Amelia got a nice wipe down, and Larry, Steve’s uncle, debugged (tee hee) her vast windshield. Larry and Joan sat back on their porch, offering placement advice here and there – it was definitely a group effort!
First we taped all the decals on and made sure we liked their placement:
Well would you look at that! My hair grew about two feet there didn’t it?!
I’ve never in my whole life had hair this long. It’s real hair…but it’s not mine. I bought hair extensions to extend my dreadlocks and thought that I was going to end up cutting them in half, but there was enough to put them in just as they were. When I put my hair up now, it’s like having a whole other being attached to my head!
But let’s get back to Amelia. Once we had all the decals placed in a pleasing way, we took all the paper backings off and made them permanent:
My cuties. I love driving around with these two.
So there you have her, Amelia the Love Bus:
Well that’s all for now. I will tell you about our visit here in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania. But right now, Steve and I have to pour over our maps and look at the pamphlets that Joan and Larry were kind enough to offer us about the Skyline Drive. We’re going to head out tomorrow in that direction and camp somewhere overnight once we get to the start of the Skyline Drive. It will be our first adventure into camping with Amelia. In fact, it will be our first time sleeping in her!
Thanks to Joan, our pillows are now dry.
But that’s another story, and I have to get to route planning!
