There are two things I forgot to tell you about from our time in B.C. Both involve quirky old men.
1. On a fairly frequented side street on Salt Spring Island, we drove by a man in his 70s standing at the end of his drive-way playing guitar – eyes closed, long stringy grey hair falling down his shoulders, serenading the passers-by, the sky, who knows what. This in itself is not that peculiar. It was his attire that made us do a double-take. He was wearing a red long-sleeved shirt and sagging tighty-whiteys.
2. While driving back from Tofino, we passed a farmer’s field and happened to see the farmer himself out walking the field…with a dowsing stick.
