Last Tuesday was my birthday. I turned a whopping 29 years old. Anyone older than me is going to groan at my trepidation, but I can’t help it, being a year away from 30 seems like a pretty big deal to me at the moment. And also not at all. An even bigger deal to me at the moment is making sure that I make this year and every year after count. It looks like we’re already on our way to making that happen. I mentioned that one of my dreams is to become a photographer. For my birthday, Steve got me a private workshop with a professional photographer here in Ottawa, Garry Black. Today we met with him and it was awesome. We went over a bunch of my photos and he gave feedback – what I was doing right, where I could improve. I learned a lot just from that process. I also learned about a possible career option – stock photography. That’s how he has made his living as a photographer. The freedom of being a stock photographer appealed to me a lot. Also along those lines, I found out on Friday that a spot opened up in one of the courses I wanted to get into at the School of Photographic Arts, so I start that next week.
Perhaps even bigger news though, we have decided to join our friends Rockr and Junkii on their trip to Africa! We’re going there for three weeks, starting at the beginning of February. Roughly, we’re visiting Ethiopia, Kenya, and Tanzania. It may put the “find our forever home” dream on hold a bit, but that’s still a plan for this year as well.
So my 29th year isn’t looking so bad now 🙂
