So I’m terrified of flying right?
But my husband’s a pilot.
And it has been his lifelong dream to fly.
And so despite my fears, I’ve tried to support him as much as possible (while clinging to his arm and telling him he’s crazy!).
So I surprised myself when yesterday, I went flying with him. I feel like that needs to be said in caps – YESTERDAY I WENT FLYING WITH STEVE!!!
And you know what? It wasn’t that bad! Sure my heart was pumping its way out of my chest on the take-off and landing, but the rest of the time I actually really enjoyed myself. I trusted that Steve knew what he was doing and just concentrated on how amazing it is to see the city from that height. It is SO cool! Everything looks way cooler from up there. And we could go wherever I wanted to go. We flew over our house, we flew over my dad’s house (I said “hi dad!”), we flew to the Parliament buildings (which Steve had never done before so it was exciting for him too), and we flew around the “practice area”, where students go to practice (you don’t want to know what kinds of things they do there). Each time we were maneuvering somewhere new, Steve radioed the appropriate authority. This will tickle my mom – when we were radioing the tower, it was Rick, my mom’s air traffic controller friend, who was talking back! Steve could hear in his voice that he was busy so we refrained from saying hello.
Of course I had my camera and I’m super pumped about the photographic possibilities from the air. Aerial photography is a whole new can of worms!
