Thanksgiving’s for turkeys

Friends of ours rented a cottage over the summer and decided they enjoyed it so much that they wanted to do it again in the Fall.  And that is where we found ourselves for the Thanksgiving long weekend.  No, there wasn’t a big turkey dinner, and yes, I did miss it.  But, we were certainly not starving.  In fact, I wore elastic waist pants (*cough* pajamas) the entire weekend, not only because they were comfy, but because I was just that full most of the time.  That’s the kind of thing you can do at a cottage full of your friends.

Other things you can do at a cottage:

– eat dessert for breakfast, specifically Nuns Farts (Pets de Nonne – it’s a French thing)

– sleep at any point during the day, anywhere you’d like

– play boardgames and card games into the wee hours of the morning

– collect Fall leaves

– have a rustic outdoor shower

Behind that door was an outdoor shower - I didn't try it. But I hear it was "refreshing"

– keep cozy by the fire, inside and outside

– read or listen to music down by the water

–  and of course, take lots of photos!

It was nice and cozy warm inside, and pretty chilly outside, but we still got outside every day for a walk through the woods.  There were two paths leading to lookouts on the property, one was up the hill.  Both provided beautiful views of all the colourful trees along the water.

But the best thing about cottages is that you can do nothing and still feel like you’re doing something worthwhile.

Long weekend sneak preview

It was Thanksgiving this past weekend in Canada.  Usually I am stuffing my face full of turkey surrounded by family for Thanksgiving, but this year we did something different and went away with a bunch of friends to a cottage that we all rented.  We just got back late last night, so I will write up a post and share this lovely spot with you all soon!

 

Because we were away and without internet and I didn’t think to plan ahead, there was no Stuff My Cat Does Monday this week.  I promise I’ll be back with a new Hobbes quirk next Monday!
